Project History

sponsorKIDS Charities-2000

After traveling the world for business for many years, Jeannette Kravitz, founder and Executive Director, identified a growing need for better cultural understanding of America, outside of politics and through our great spirit. She created sponsorKIDS with the idea to foster activities where American youth could engage with foreign youth to create better cultural understanding. After the tragedies of 9/11/2000, Jeannette & her team then created Peace Journey Adventures.

Immediately media projects also took shape, like RockTheCastle radio show which aired in 115 markets,  interview celebrities who do good for the world and why they do it. It brought people like Russell Simons, Michael Douglas, Joan Jett,, Klaus Minor, songwriter Lamont Dozier, Richard Branson’s mom, Mandela Mandela, Nelson’s grandson, and many others to talk about the joys & hard work of giving back to society.  Listen here: http://www.sponsorkids.com/productions.htm  and Click here for more information on past events!

Peace Journey Adventures

Little Feat Band

Peace Journey adventures was created out of the tragedies of 9/11 in New York.  Never was their a time when Jeannette felt that as a nation, we needed to work to strengthen ties and develop understanding and appreciation among cultures. The first Peace Journey was to Tanzania where high school students from Chicago built computer labs with African students and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. As adventure events scaled to include hundreds of American students traveling to areas of Africa, Europe, Mexico, America and the Hawaiian Islands, the media and artist attention also grew.  Music artists started taking note and donated time to be a part of fundraising events to further the Peace Journey work, including bands Little Feat & Ben Taylor, further supported by PSA’s including Blink 110, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jimmy Jam, Loretta Divine and others. http://www.peacejourney.com/CelebKudos.wmv

Along the way, these artists brought media attention which in turn, brought great corporate partners and an opportunity to work with BET TV to produce the award winning Peace Journey Documentary.

Today, we seek to continue our Peace Journey adventures, with a special focus on international food-pals from America and across the globe.

ECOChallenge2020:

Commitment to Getting American Kids Healthy

ECOChallenge2020 is an independent advocacy initiative started in 2010, with a 10 year mission of promoting healthy lifestyles and empowerment of youth to make changes to improve their own health, with special focus on the growing health challenges of obesity and type2 diabetes. Here, empowered kids are provided a platform to speak to their need for healthy options, joined by adults, corporations and nonprofit partners, encouraging local farm-to-table and farm-to-school-food-growing projects in their communities and participate at ECOChallenge2020 events. Individuals can help with donations and volunteer projects!

Garden Growing and ECO-Education

Youth engage in local & school garden growing, to integrate fresh food in schools to combat the growing health crisis in America. This process includes understanding how to reduce negative environmental impact and work towards integrated environmental solutions.  Following is a report created for Chicago Public Schools to encourage better food and better sustainability and share best practices with other cultures.
